Week five update

Hello all;

Unfortunately, this week saw the fall of our robot from the rope about five feet in the air. Because of this, the chassis is minorly bent, with one severely bent piece. While we have fallen significantly behind, it’s not so bad that we can’t catch up! We will work extra hard the next couple of weeks to make up our lost ground. Check back later on to see our build season picture gallery so far!

It’s coming together!

This is the last day of week five, and everyone is hard at work.

In the build team, Andrew is drilling larger pilot holes in the support pylons on which the electronics and climber will rest. Aside from that, the first Chassis is complete and welded, and is lookin’ sleek. Both gear mechanisms are coming along nicely, we have a majority of the build team working on these. Currently, Charlie is gusseting part of the first gear mechanism while Lars, John, Eli and Jameson are drilling back plates. Both winches are complete and waiting to be mounted on their respective robots!

In Programming, Kylo is testing sensors and developing a way to form a sort of coordinate grid based on our new accelerometer and gyroscope.

In Electronics, Grant is currently rebuilding the electronics board for the first robot so that it will better fit into the welded chassis.
